Fuel Mix and Emissions Disclosure

February 02, 2011

Summary

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) adopted environmental disclosure rules in 1998, pursuant to the state's electric restructuring legislation. Under Arizona’s rules, each retail electricity supplier must disclose the composition, fuel mix, and emissions characteristics of its resource portfolio upon request and in annual reports. The ACC oversees the format and reporting requirements for labels to ensure that this information is appropriately and accurately reported, and to ensure that customers can use the labels for comparisons among utilities. A standard format is required. In addition, each utility must include the information disclosure label in a prominent position in all written marketing materials specifically targeted to Arizona.
