Efficiency Maine Multifamily Efficiency Program

November 06, 2015

Summary

Efficiency Maine's Multifamily Efficiency Program offers incentives to multifamily residency building owners for improving energy efficiency. Residencies must have 5 or more apartment units to qualify for this rebate. There are two options under this program: the prescriptive path and the custom path. Under the precriptive path, a multifamily program partner is selected to install the chosen efficiency measures. Under the custom path, a program partner is first selected to complete a whole-building energy consumption assessment. The partner will then establish an Energy Reduction Plan to reduce total building energy consumption by a minimum of 20%. A multifamily program partner is then selected to perform a walk-through energy audit and begin implementing the Energy Reduction Plan.

For more information see program web site.

This Program is part of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Better Buildings Program. The DOE has awarded over $500 million in federal funds to more than 40 states, local governments, and organizations to administer local programs targeting a variety of building types. Combined, these local programs are expected to improve the efficiency of more than 170,000 buildings through 2013 and save up to $65 million in energy costs annually.
